Saturday I’m taking off again for work. This time to the UK. We’ll be about an hour north of London in Ampthill which I believe is a town in Bedfordshire. I’m very excited about this trip, especially since two of my favorite people (AmericanMum and her husband) have been contemplating moving to England for a while now. Hearing and reading about their experiences has made me long to have a few myself. Although we’ll be attempting to complete a month’s worth of work in 9 days, we will have a weekend in between to play. Any suggestions?

Well I already gave you my suggestions via email, although they are almost all on the touristy side….maybe Dan at Allthatcomeswithit.com can help you out. I hope you love London as much as we do!

We’re quite far north of London here, so I’ve only ever gone as a tourist myself. Tate modern art gallery is good, and they have recently installed some giant slides for adults which are rather popular. The London Eye is meant to be pretty good too although I’ve never been on it.
You could catch a show at the west end, or perhaps some Shakespeare at the globe (A reconstruction of Shakespeare’s original theatre) if there is any on.
There are a lot of good museums, Kerry (my wife) likes the V&A.
erm… that’s all i can think of. I’ve heard the tower of london is pretty good. If you arrive by saturday evening make sure to watch the Eurovision song contest on TV – an annual europe wide competition where countries compete to win the honor of hosting it next year. It is treated as incredibly camp and a joke over here, but many nations take it very seriously. The guy who commentates it, Terry Wogan,is a bit of a national institution. It’s a very good primer on european politics and relationships anyhow. I did a post about my own eurovision tradition here
